Youngsters across Bolton looked as if they had stepped straight out of a book.
Every character imaginable was brought to life to celebrate the annual World Book Day.
Pupils swapped their uniform for fun costumes, becoming everything from The Grinch to Mary Poppins.
And it wasn't just children who got into the spirit of the day -adults did too with staff becoming their favourite character for the day.
World Book Day was created by UNESCO back in 1995 as a "worldwide celebration of books and reading".
World Book Day is celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world including the UK and Ireland.
The first event in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997.
The theme for World Book Day 2024 was "Read Your Way" for children are more likely to enjoy reading when their choices are championed.
A special World Book Day supplement will be included with your The Bolton News next Wednesday featuring some of the best dressed characters in Bolton on World Book Day.
