How long have you been the landlord/landlady for? And how are you finding it?
I have been here for eight years, and I love it. I love just meeting people every day. I have worked in the industry all my life. I used to work abroad, and I came back I got back into working in pubs. I used to work on cruise ships, and was based in Miami, so went all over the Caribbean.
Give us some history about the pub:
It’s an old building that’s been extended. People say it’s haunted, with the things that they have seen here, including people they see, which I hear people talking about. I think they are harmless and here to protect people.
Is food served? If so, please describe it or if there are plans to in the future.
We serve pub restaurant style food and we launched a new menu this week. It will be more updated, fresh, and modern menu. We also have some deals on, including two meals for £12.50, kids can also eat for £1 Monday to Thursday from 3pm to 7pm.
Is there a beer garden? Please describe
We do have a big beer garden, with a few shelters, a big telly out there, and probably about 25 benches. In the summer it’s very popular. We have music, singers, and a DJ if it is nice out here.
What is the most popular drink served and why?
They all enjoy a variety of drinks, and there is no preference really.
What is the most memorable moment at the pub?
When we won a defibrillator for our pub through our company, and I’m really proud of that. It’s something residents needed in the area.
Do you have an entertainment line-up?
We have singers and a DJ on the second and last Friday of the months, and a quiz every Tuesday.
What are the biggest challenges within the industry and how can you overcome them?
Keeping up with the demand and keeping everyone happy. We have seen a bit of a rise in energy prices, but they are starting to level out now.
What is the best thing about running a pub and why?
I just enjoy having a laugh with the regulars. The pub is just full of nice people.
What is the worst thing about running a pub and why?
I guess, trying to find the balance and keeping the customers happy and safe, whilst having fun.
What bonus things are offered at the pub? Please explain.
We have a lot of sports channels, and the pub gets really busy when the football is on.
