Stunning shots of Bolton are featured on the official trailer of a new drama starring Ewan McGregor's.

There was huge excitement in the town centre when the Hollywood A-lister was in the town centre filming scene for A Gentleman in Moscow around this time last year.

Spectacular footage of the the town centre, specifically Bolton Town Hall, takes centre stage in the new trailer, for the series.

Ewan McGregor, who came to fame in the 1990s for his roles as heroin addict Mark Renton in Trainspotting and lightsabre wielding jedi Obi Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace, was in town in February last year filming in Victoria Square.

The series, based on the novel by by Amor Towles, is set at the time of the Russian Revolution.

It follows Count Alexander Rostov, played by McGregor, who is spared execution but told he must spend the rest of his life within the confines of Hotel Metropol.

In the trailer,  Rostov states he is a "gentleman" without an occupation and is sent to stay in the hotel permanently.

He adds "they can take away your house, they can take away everything, but they can't take away who you are."

Councillor Nadeem Ayub, the cabinet member for culture, said it was positive that more filming had taken place in Bolton.

He said: "It is great to see famous actors coming and coming in Bolton, showcasing our great facilities and great buildings in the town centre.

"The show will help and be great publicity for Bolton."

The show will be released on Paramount on March 29.

The town hosted 80 filming days last year prompting Bolton been nicknamed the Hollywood of the North as a result.

Earlier this week it was announced filming for a gothic tale based on a short Franz Kakfa story will take place in Rivington.

Adrian Dunbar has also been in Bolton for filming of Ridley.

The murder drama with politics themes Sherwood was filmed in a social club in the town last year.

And stars from the Full Monty came to Bolton in 2022 to film a series which is the series to the hit film.

This week, the latest Harlan Coben drama, Missing You, started filming in Bolton.

Filming crews pulled into Le Mans Crescent, with shooting taking place in Victoria Square, with actress in Rosalind Eleazar seen in town.
