A sex offender from Bolton twice forgot to renew his registration due to "memory loss."
Peter Casey was convicted of multiple counts of indecent assault in 2003.
Following this he was placed on the sex offenders register.
But Bolton Magistrates Court heard the 55-year-old failed complete the mandatory annual registration for two successive years.
James Gore, prosecuting, said: “In September 2022 he was due to renew.
“He attended on October 4 and was in breach as a result.
“The following year he was due on October 4.
“The police sent him a text messages. They visited his home on the morning of October 4.
“They got no reply. A note was posted through the door.
“He telephoned the officer concerned in this case at about 7.30pm saying he had forgot.”

At court Casey, from Cleveland Gardens, Deane, Bolton, admitted twice failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders register.
Mr Gore said his other previous convictions included possession of a bladed article for which he was given a suspended sentence in December last year.
Adam Whittaker, defending, said in relation to this he had been stopped by police and a knife had been found inside a car he was in.
He added: “He suffers with memory loss.
“I once had to remind him three times in ten minutes when he was next in court. He is not making it up.
“It is not the police’s job to remind him.”
Chair of the bench Karen Martin imposed a conditional discharge to run for 12 months.
But she urged him to make sure he completes the annual renewal onto the sex offenders register later this year.
She said: “If you fail to sign on at the time you will come back to court.
“You need to keep yourself out of trouble.
“Do not forget to sign on.”
