The Bolton community came together to remember those who lost their lives during the Ukrainian war, two years on from the Russian invasion.
Around 230 people came to pay their respects during a 10-minute memorial service, followed by a poignant concert with the Ukrainian Chamber Choir Svitoch and other Ukrainian artists performing.
Bolton Branch Chair of the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, Yaroslaw Tymchyshyn, thanked the community, Bolton Council, Cllr John Walsh and council officials for their support in marking the anniversary.

He said: “We have to remember the fallen heroes and heroines who gave their life, paying the ultimate price, in defence for freedom and the right of way.
“It was hugely important, especially for the Ukrainians living in Bolton, it gives them a link back to the land they love.
“It is a testament to the support that still goes on after two years.
“I want to say a big thank you to Bolton Council, Bolton Council officials and the people of Bolton who came to support, and who made life for the Ukrainians as comfortable as possible.”
The concert was held on Sunday (February 25) at the Bolton Parish Church.
Cllr Walsh – who is also a church warden – says that the concert was “spectacular”, with great musicians.
He added: “It was an absolutely spectacular concert, with just under 250 people who were here raising a large sum for the Ukrainian Humanitarian Fund.
“The musicians individually and collectively were wonderful.”
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022 – and since then more than 200,000 refugees have arrived in the UK through two schemes.
The AUGB also held a candlelight vigil and prayer for Ukraine on Saturday February 24.
The second anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine has been marked with church services, wreath-laying and demonstrations in the UK and Ireland.
