A convicted murderer who killed a man with a single punch to the face more than a decade ago is now a wanted man.
Eden Lomax, 27, was jailed in 2013 when he was just 17 years old for murdering Simon Mitchell, a stranger to him, in Bolton town centre on June 14 of that year.
Earlier this month, police said that Lomax was now wanted on recall to prison and have now confirmed that he is still a wanted man.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Eden Lomax should contact police on 999 or via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
At Lomax’s sentencing hearing in 2013, the court heard how Lomax had been hanging around Victoria Square with friends in Bolton when his 43-year-old victim Mr Mitchell approached the group.
Lomax lashed out with a punch that knocked Mr Mitchell to the floor and he suffered catastrophic brain injuries.
He was declared dead at the scene just outside the branch of Game on Victoria Square at around 9pm that evening.
Lomax, then of Northwood Crescent, Deane, had attacked two other people in the weeks before.
He was sentenced by Mr Justice Peter Openshaw to a life sentence with a minimum of 10 years.
Passing sentence, Mr Openshaw said that Lomax "has a cowardly enthusiasm to resort to violence against men who are unable through drink to defend themselves."
In May 2020, his sentence was reduced to nine years because of the “exceptional progress” he had made while serving as a prisoner in HMP Dovegate, Staffordshire.
Allowing the appeal, Mr Justice Hilliard said: "The applicant had also completed offending-related work as regards alcohol and violence, restorative justice, anger management, and courses on self-control, motivation to change and relapse prevention.

"He had improved his educational and vocational prospects, gaining qualifications in painting and decorating, carpentry and joinery, business ventures, English and maths.”
But nearly four years on, Greater Manchester Police issued an update saying that Lomax is now wanted on recall to prison and in connection with “serious assault and criminal damage.”
A police statement issued on February 9 said: “Eden Lomax is wanted on recall to prison and for serious assault and criminal damage.
“Lomax is known to have links to the Bolton and Salford areas of Greater Manchester.”
As of Monday February 26 police have confirmed that Lomax is still a wanted man.
