A HEFTY fine has been handed down to a motorist for driving at less than 50mph on the motorway.
Stuart John Milligan was caught breaking the speed limit while driving on the M62.
The case of the 60-year-old, of Lymm, was recently heard before Tameside Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard how Milligan exceed a variable speed limit and was clocked by an automatic camera device.
This occurred on June 15 last year on the M62 heading westbound between junctions 11 for Birchwood and 10 for the M6 at Croft interchange.
While behind the wheel of a blue Chevrolet Aveo, he drove at a speed of 48mph – in excess of the 40mph speed limit in place at the time.
The verdict was found proved by way of a single justice procedure and Milligan, of Ridgway Gardens, was ordered to pay a total of £398.
This is broken down into a fine of £220, surcharge to fund victim services of £88 and court costs of £90.
In addition, his driving record has been endorsed with three penalty points.
