Here’s a view which will be familiar to Looking Back readers of a certain age.
Taken in July 1960 the photo shows Blackburn Road at Astley Bridge with the Lamb Hotel at the junction with the road leading to Belmont.
The pub was an imposing building with an unusual stone balustrade at roof level. At the time this picture was taken it was advertising Walker’s Ales.
Note too the mill in the background, a source of many customers for the pub you would imagine.
