This photo from 1946 gives us a fascinating insight into the daily lives of workers at Bolton’s cotton mills.
This particular picture was taken at Stanley Mill on Jackson Street in the Deane area run by the Cannon Brothers.
The centre of attention was the new communal washing facilities which had been installed with various dignitaries being invited to see the - women - workers washing up after a shift.
Interior designers today would love to get their hands on the sink!
Stanley Mill closed in 1971 and was demolished three years later.
