A wet wipes manufacturer is to take over the site of a burnt-down warehouse in Tonge Moor.
Firwood Industrial Estate, off Thicketford Road, was the scene of a blaze battled by the firefighters back on March 12, 2020.
On January 6, 2022, Millfield Estates received planning permission for a 30,000-square-foot development on the site of the burnt-down warehouse which at the time of its destruction was the home of Homespares.
Now Homespares, a supplier of appliance spares, has its home a couple of miles away on Waters Meeting Road.
And on Wednesday Millfield Estates revealed it sold the land in a £1m transaction to Saraco Industries, a producer of wet wipes, in order for it to take forward the development.
It is said that Saraco Industries envisions utilising the land to construct a 30,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility.
At the time of writing Saraco Industries is based on Egerton Street, Farnworth, but a spokesperson for the firm would not confirm whether it is moving to the new site from the old site or if it is opening the new site in addition to current site.
Paul Dobson, the property director for Millfield Estates, described it as "a significant milestone in the redevelopment of the land", which an aerial photograph demonstrated is clear of the debris from its destruction and ready for redevelopment.
Mr Dobson said: "We are delighted to announce the successful sale to Saraco Industries marking a significant milestone in the redevelopment of the land.
"This transaction reflects our desire to ensure the continued occupation of a vital site here in Bolton, facilitating strategic investment and supporting the local community's economic growth.
"At Millfield Estates we believe that Saraco Industries' vision aligns with the potential of this prime industrial space.
"We extend our best wishes to Saraco Industries as it embarks on its journey to bring new life to this space, creating jobs and contributing to the flourishing industrial landscape in Bolton and the surrounding region."
