A man was arrested after police say he was found to have been driving while more than twice over the legal limit for alcohol.
The 56-year-old man was stopped in the Blackrod area by police last week after they became suspicious about the “manner of his driving.”
Officers have now revealed that he was arrested and is due to appear in court.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Last week officers from the Horwich team arrested a 56 year old male in Blackrod on suspicion of being over the proscribed limit of alcohol.
“The male was stopped due to the manner of his driving and officers completed a road side test for alcohol which the male failed.
“As per procedure, the male was arrested and provided a further sample in custody which was over double the drink drive limit.
“He was charged and will now appear before the magistrates court next month.
“Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts you, other road users and pedestrians at risk of serious harm.”
Anyone with any further concerns about drink driving or other offences can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
