A bush that people feared had given cover to drug use, littering and criminal behaviour has now been removed.

The bush had been found on Gladstone Close, Halliwell, and was one of several feared hotspots for crime and anti-social behaviour that people in the area had expressed concerns about.

But on Sunday, February 18, Cllr Kevin Morris, of Halliwell, announced his council colleagues, together with police and Bolton at Home had removed the bush.

Cllr Morris said: “Residents contacted me regarding anti-social behaviour, youths hanging about, drug issues, litter, etc at these bushes and steps.

“So working in partnership with GMP and Bolton at Home we have now had the large bush removed to stop these activities taking place that blight our communities.

Greater Manchester Police will continue to patrol the area.”

Cllr Morris said that he hoped this would reassure people around Gladstone Close that action was being taken to ensure that issues like these were being dealt with.
