A model and influencer bought a taste of Africa to Bolton on Channel 4’s Come Dine With Me cooking show.
Thandie Ndlovu, from Bolton, was approached by Channel 4 bosses to appear on the show and the model impressed with her African dishes on Wednesday.
The show featured five contestants from Bolton, including hairdresser Shane Mcloughlin.
For starters, Thandie served charred prawns in sweet aubergine sauce, which was well-liked by all the other contestants.
For mains, Thandie plated Ostrich fillet steak with sweet potato mash, with Shane Mcloughlin unsure about eating the bird, admitting he had not even known what it was.
And finally, for dessert, Thandie made the third cheesecake of the week with a peanut butter cheesecake.
Thandie said: “It was such a surreal and fun experience.
“We all got along so well, and I just enjoyed it so much, and I made some great friends and memories for sure.
“On my day of filming, I was a bit overwhelmed with the amount of people that came to my house to film.
“I prefer to cook alone in my own zone, so that was the most challenging.”
Thandie scored the highest marks of the week so far on her day with a total of 30.
She said: “Other contestants were very welcoming, they taught me some hosting skills and I felt bad for Katie as she was the first one up, but she really smashed it.
“By the end of the week, everyone was now getting the hang of things.”
Thandie loves cooking as she chose to make big dishes with big spices.
She said: “I enjoy cooking so much, and it’s like therapy to me.
“I cook all sorts of food because I hate eating the same meal twice, my goodness, I love it. “ On how she was approached to appear on the show, Thandie said she was asked to help promote it or appear on it herself.

She said: “They actually reached out to me on Instagram to help them promote the show or sign up myself.
“I will absolutely continue all day every day and I’m working on quite a few projects and manifesting it all.”
Thandie’s episode is available to watch on Channel 4 online and the final episode at which the winner will be announced will be aired tonight.
