The family of a man who tragically died in a crash in Bolton have paid tribute to “a loving father, grandfather, brother and son.”
Alan Plimley, 51, died on Blackburn Road, Egerton after a collision at around 4pm on Tuesday January 30.
He has been honoured by his loved ones as “the best of the best.”
A statement from Mr Plimley’s family said: “Alan was a loving father, grandad, brother and son. He was the life and soul of a party, and would light up the room as result.
“He was a very funny and charming man and life will not be the same without him now.
“Everybody loves you Alan, always and forever and until we meet again x.”
Mr Plimley’s death sparked a police investigation with the road closed for a number of hours.
Police have previously said that the crash involved a motorcycle.
A serving Greater Manchester Police officer, who was not on duty at the time and was in his own vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has since been released under investigation and remains suspended, while his case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

Greater Manchester Police have urged anyone who may have seen anything or has any information has been urged to come forward.
This includes anyone who may have dashcam, CCTV or mobile footage from the area at the time of the incident.
They have been urged to share this with officers as soon as possible.
They can do so by calling Serious Collision Investigation Unit officers on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 2343 of 30/01/2024.
