More than 1,500 homes and businesses in Astley Bridge were without electricity yesterday, according to Electricity North West (ENW).
Yesterday, Wednesday, February 7, at around 4pm, the power company received reports of a power cut affecting 1,753 homes in Astley Bridge due to a fault with an underground electricity cable.
According to Electricity North West, 767 properties were restored within one minute of the power going out and then a further 500 properties were reinstated with power within one hour.
Engineers attended the sight, and all power was restored by 6.30pm.
Properties in the following post codes were impacted: BL1 7HJ, BL1 7LQ, BL1 7LG, BL1 7LW, BL1 7PN, BL1 7QP, BL1 7QJ, BL1 7LS, BL1 8SD, BL1 8SA, BL1 7PN, BL1 7LS, BL1 7QP, BL1 7QJ, BL1 7GE, BL1 7JG, BL1 7EH.
A spokesperson for Electricity North West said: “Yesterday at 4pm, we received reports of a power cut affecting 1,753 homes in Astley Bridge due to a fault with an underground electricity cable.
“Using our automatic restoration systems, 767 properties were restored within a minute and a further 500 within the hour. Engineers then attended site and the remaining properties were restored by 6:30pm.”
