School meals in Bolton have been given top marks.

And the hard working kitchen staff have been congratulated for ensuring they are serving up the very the best -  in the best kitchens.

Of 148 schools rated by the Food Standards Agency – the government body which enforces standards in restaurants, cafes, pubs, and more, a whopping 121 have the top grade of five, or ‘Very Good’.

Cllr Richard Silvester, cabinet member for Environmental Services, said: “We are really pleased with the latest food hygiene inspection results.

“These inspections recognise schools providing healthy and nutritious meals in a safe and hygienic environment whilst highlighting any areas in need of improvement.         

“Well done to our kitchen staff team for consistently maintaining such high standards.”
