The M61 reopened at around 3am this morning after a burst water main caused it to shut.
National Highways North West first reported a two car collision southbound between Junction 8 at Chorley and Junction 6 at Bolton.
The incident was first reported at around 8am last night.
However images have emerged showing large amounts of water on the road as well.
