A police officer has been arrested after a motorcyclist died in a crash.
On Tuesday at around 4pm, a 51-year-old man riding a motorcycle northbound along Blackburn Road in Egerton died after a crash.
On Thursday, a man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
He is a police officer currently serving with Greater Manchester Police driving a private vehicle.
The case has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
Officers are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have dashcam, CCTV or mobile footage from the area at the time of the incident to share it with officers to assist their enquiries.
