A summer’s day and the good folk of Bolton sat and watched the world go by.
This photo shows some of the benches in Victoria Square, in June 1967 in front of British Home Stores. At the time traffic still flower across the square - hence the ‘No Waiting’ sign in front of the shops.
On the right you can just make out one of the much-missed fountains which fascinated youngsters.
It may have officially been summer but for many of the shoppers in town that day, a hat and coat were still the order of the day.
