As Bolton entered the post war years, many new businesses sprung up around the town.
On Victoria Square, the Victoria Restaurant opened in July 1948 offering a cup of coffee, biscuit and cigarette for sixpence.
Initially a success, the restaurant experienced dwindling clientele and closed just three years after opening. The impressive building stood on the corner of Howell Croft South.
