Train passengers have experienced delays and cancelled trains this morning due to points failures and faults on the lines.
Trains were not stopping at Westhoughton due to a points failure at Wigan Wallgate.
Trains for Manchester Victoria were being diverted via Atherton due to the line between Wigan Wallgate and Bolton being blocked.
According to Northern Railway the points failure has now ended and services are no longer affected by the problem.

A passenger travelling into Bolton from Salford said they experienced delays on the trains.
They said: "I was on the train; it was a normal journey but the train I was supposed to catch beforehand was cancelled due to a fault on the line and the subsequent trains after that were delayed so it was a nightmare to get the most convenient time."
A spokesperson for Northern said: “Disruption caused by a points failure between Wigan Wallgate and Bolton has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem.”
