Emergency services attended a two-car rush hour crash on a major town centre junction in Bolton this evening (Thursday, January 25).
The collision occurred on Blackhorse Street,near to the junction of Trinity Street.
A cordon was put in place across the border with Trinity Street and Derby Street prohibitin traffic from going down towards Bury.
And Black Horse Street was closed just after the entrance to Morrisons Supermarket.
The surrounding roads were closed at the time of the incident, whilst emergency services worked together.
Diversions were in place for traffic coming out of Morrisons supermarket, with a cordon in place for a couple of hours.
A lot of congestion circulated around the area whilst a recovery truck towed the damaged cars.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At shortly after 5.50pm this evening (Thursday, January 25) two fire engines from Farnworth and Bolton North fire stations, and the Technical Response Unit from Leigh, were called to attend a road traffic collision involving two cars on Black Horse Street, Bolton.
“Crews arrived quickly, assessing one male casualty at the scene and transferring one female casualty into the care of North West Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters worked alongside colleagues from Greater Manchester Police to make the area safe before departing after approximately an hour in attendance.”
A cordon was placed on Blackhorse Street, with no right turn on Derby Street or left turn on to Trinity Street, with cars having to turn around.
The second vehicle was being removed at around 8pm.
