A man tragically died after falling down the stairs and hitting his head.
Scott Mitchell, aged 36, died at his home in Ashawe Grove, Little Hulton, after he fell down the stairs on December 1 last year.
An inquest into Mr Mitchell's death opened at Bolton Coroners' Court on January 25.
Police coroners officer Rachel O'Driscoll said: "Mr Mitchell got up at 5am and went down the wooden painted stairs at his home.
"He fell and landed on his head. He had deep wounds and suffered heavy blood loss.
"His partner heard the fall and rang 999. At 5.39am, paramedics declared his life extinct."
Pathologist Dr Usha Chandran gave his medical cause of death as multiple traumatic injuries, contributed to by the use of cannabis and alcohol.
Coroner Peter Sigee asked for statements from Mr Mitchell's GP, any drug, alcohol or mental health services, the senior investigating police officer and an antecedent.
He adjourned proceedings until March 8.
