A new bench has been installed in Market Place Shopping Centre to get people talking.
Chatty benches have been appearing throughout Bolton and now one has been placed in the heart of the town to illustrate that it is good to talk.
The idea is combat loneliness and social isolation and Market Place Shopping Centre is aiming to push the power of conversation through its new ‘Happy to Chat’ bench.
The Happy to Chat bench has been specifically designed with the purpose of fostering social interactions amongst shoppers throughout the shopping centre, to provide support and raise awareness of mental health.
The intention is to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages individuals to strike up conversations with fellow shoppers passing through, enhancing the overall sense of community and connection amongst visitors.
The bench and backdrop has been designed with bright colours and easy to read conversation starters including ‘what’s your favourite hobby?’ and ‘If you could be anywhere in the world, where would you be?’.
