Storm Jocelyn wreaked havoc in Bolton overnight causing trees to come crashing down and roofs to be blown off.
Mark Taberner at Belmont Tree Surgeons says he has been inundated with calls following the two storms this week -Storm Isha and Jocelyn - which caused trees to either become dangerously close to falling, or have already fallen.
Last night, Mark received a call from a man whose roof had been hit by a tree falling on it.
Mark and the team were at the house on Chorley New Road this morning to clear the tree and make it safe for the family.
Mark said: “It happened last night when the man was sleeping in his bedroom and the tree came crashing through the roof.
"It was only one branch yet.
“He is one of our customers as we did some work for him last summer and they wanted to keep this tree then, but now they want it chopping down.”
Mark said this was something the team were seeing a lot after the recent bad storms and advised people on what to do.
Mark said: “It’s happening because of the storms so I advise people to keep trees on their properties maintained and seek good advice to make sure they are safe.”
Over in Breightmet, a garage roof blew off in the strong winds.
They said: “It woke me up at about 4:30am with a loud bang, luckily it fell down on the grass and didn't damage anything else.
“We are just glad the roof didn't fly away or injure anyone as it could have been a lot worse.
“Now we need to make sure it is fixed back on properly, so it doesn't happen again with more bad weather on the way and the garage contents aren't damaged either.”
