Witnesses have been urged to come forward after a man in his 20s died after a motorbike crashed into a fence post.
The 27-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy are understood to have been on the motorbike when it crashed into a fence post on a path off Hall Lane, Aspull, not far from Westhoughton, at around 5pm on Saturday January 20.
The man died the next day and police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “On Saturday January 20 2024, at around 5pm, officers were called to reports of a collision involving two males riding a motorcycle.
“A 27-year-old male suffered serious injuries as a result of the incident and despite the efforts of medical professionals, man passed away the following day as a result of his injuries.
“A 16-year-old male thankfully only suffered minor injuries.
“Initial enquiries suggest that around 5pm that evening, the two males were on the motorbike when it collided with a fence post on a path off Hall Lane in Aspull, Wigan.
“GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.”
