An investigation is underway after reports that a teenage girl was the victim of a “serious sexual assault” in an alleyway.
Detectives say that believe the girl was assault just before 8.30pm on Sunday, December 3 last year in an alleyway, Howe Street and Back Howe Street, in the Broughton area of Salford.
They believe that the girl was approached by a man as she turned into the alleyway and have now released CCTV footage of a man running towards Great Clowes Street who they hope to trace.
Detective Constable Harmer, of Greater Manchester Police's Salford district, said: "We do not underestimate the concern this will have caused in the local community.
"Since the report was made to us, officers have been working hard to piece together a timeline of events leading up to the incident and are now in the position to release a CCTV image of a man we wish to speak to.
"Our investigation remains ongoing, and I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information or footage that could assist our enquiries then please get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.
"Any information, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, could prove vital to our investigation."
