An “elderly driver” was caught out by police driving at just 35mph on a motorway without a proper licence, police have said.
The Renault was spotted by officers from Greater Manchester Police’s traffic division on the M60 on Thursday January 18 being driven at just 35mph.
But on stopping the car in Trafford Park, the officers found that the driver had not been properly licenced to be on the road at all.
Speaking on Friday, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Our patrol clocked this Renault driving at approximately 35mph on the M60 yesterday.
“The vehicle was eventually checked in Trafford Park.
“The elderly driver was identified as driving on a revoked/refused licence.
“The vehicle was seized by the transport unit and the driver taken home.”
Images suppled by the police show a red Renault Captur having been stopped at the side of the road.
This comes amid long running concerns about safety on the roads and motorways across Greater Manchester, including problems with unlicenced or in some cases uninsured drivers.
Police have appealed for anyone with any concerns about safety, crime or anti-social behaviour on the motorways to get in touch by calling 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
