Residents across Bolton are being warned that weather conditions on Sunday could pose a ‘danger to life’.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning that comes into force from 6am Sunday, January 21, and will remain in place until midnight.
According to the weather forecaster, there is a small chance of injuries and ‘danger to life’ from flying debris whilst there is a slight chance of some damage to buildings such as tiles blown from roofs.
There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close.
There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air, and ferry services are affected and a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
The Met Office said there is also a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads, and properties.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “A period of strong winds and persistent rainfall is expected across parts of the UK during Sunday.
“Whilst there is still some uncertainty as to the exact locations which will see the strongest winds, northern and western areas are likely to be most at risk.

“Many inland areas are expected to see gusts of 50 to 60 mph during this period.
“Coasts and exposed locations could see gusts of 60 to 70 mph or even higher.
“Prepare to protect your property and people from injury.
“Check for loose items outside your home and plan how you could secure them. Items include bins, garden furniture, trampolines, tents, sheds, and fences.
“Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.
“People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items.
“If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves. Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea.
“Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
Weather conditions at the weekend show there will be highs of 44 miles per hour winds and temperatures will be at highs of 11°C.
National Highways North West are continuing to tell people to be safe when out travelling today, January 18, as certain areas of the region are covered in snow and ice.
Whilst a yellow weather warning is no longer in place for Bolton, icy and snow conditions are still proving to cause problems across the area.
