A man has been charged after a number of thefts in Bolton.
John Phelps of Ainsworth Lane in Tonge Moor has been charged with three counts of shoplifting.
Police have reported that the 39-year-old has also been changed with one count of common assault.
These charges come after several reports of thefts and a shop worker being assaulted in Bromley Cross and Bolton town centre.
Phelps has been remanded to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court today, Saturday.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson from the Bolton North team said: "Following an investigation by the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team, John Phelps (24/07/1984) of Ainsworth Lane, #TongeMoor has been charged with three counts of shoplifting and common assault.
“These charges come after reports of thefts and a shop worker being assaulted in #BromleyCross and Bolton #TownCentre.
“He has been remanded in police custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today (06/01/24)”.
