A 'struggling' town centre bar hopes to boost its business by bidding to stay open into the early hours of the morning.
Vibez Bar and Restaurant on Bradshawgate is currently forced to close at 10pm from Monday to Thursday, 11.30pm on a Friday and midnight on a Saturday.
But owner Hassam Abdullai said this has badly hit the venue’s business and he has launched at bid to be allowed to stay open until 4.30am every day of the week.
Mr Abdullai said: “Basically, I’m finding it really difficult with the hours I have especially at weekends.
“We’re really struggling, it’s so, so hard because the problem I’m always having is that a lot of the customers I have work late jobs.
“So, once they’re finished then they go home and come out again it's already 11pm and I only have about half an hour with them, especially on a Friday.”
He added: “It so, so hard, everyone says this.
“I’ve seen other bars, and they are open until three in the morning so it's not like it would be causing any extra disturbance.”
If approved, Mr Abdullai’s bid will allow Vibez to play recorded music indoors and sell alcohol on site until 4am every day of the week and stay open until 4.30am.
This will also include having two Security Industry Authority registered doormen at the bar from 8pm until close on a Friday and Saturday.
There will also be two doormen present from 8pm onwards if the Bradshawgate venue is open past 11pm from Sundays to Thursdays.

But Mr Abdullai says that Vibez has always proven safe in the past and believes it will remain so with later opening hours.
He said: “Since I’ve been open, I’ve not had any police issues with them coming over for violence, so I’ve never had any problems there.”
Vibez Bar and Restaurant’s application is set to go before a meeting of Bolton Council’s licencing committee at Bolton town hall next week on Wednesday January 10.
The meeting will hear representations before a panel of three councillors decide whether or not to approve the bid.
