Police have been patrolling an area of Bolton after hearing complaints about drug crime from the community.
The response team officers reported they were on the streets in the Halliwell area to the north of the town centre over Sunday after people reported concerns about the use and sale of illegal drugs.
They say that they hope this will reassure law abiding people living there and help to deter people from getting involved in drug related crime.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers from Bolton’s response team have been patrolling the Halliwell area today following complaints from the community about drug dealing and drug use in the area.
“Officers have been patrolling the area to deter crime, gather intelligence and provide reassurance to the community.”
Drug crime has frequently been raised as a concern by people living in the area at meetings with police and council officials.
Police have appealed for anyone with any information or concerns about drug crime or other kinds of crime or anti-social behaviour in their communities to get in touch.
They can do so by calling 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
