Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service has issued a warning about e-bikes and e-scooters after some residents would have received the vehicles as Christmas presents.
Owners are being urged to check the batteries regularly for signs of damaged as they can overheat and catch fire.
In October, firefighters were called to a blaze at an address on Hillfield Walk, Tonge Moor and the crew said the fire started after an electric bike was charging.
No one was harmed in the incident and there was minimal damage to the property but firefighters want people to be aware of the fire threat from the vehicles.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “If you’ve received an e-bike or e-scooter for Christmas, please follow our safety advice.
“Check the battery in your e-bikes or e-scooters regularly for signs of damage.
“When a battery is damaged, it can overheat and catch fire without warning.”
