UPDATE: The incident has now cleared.
Motorists are being warned of rush hour delays after an 'accident' on a major Bolton road this morning.
The reported crash took place on A666 St Peter's Way this morning, December 22.
The left-hand lane on its northbound carriageway was closed between its junctions with Kearsley roundabout and Moses Gate.
A police SUV was on scene, with a van parked in front of it on the carriageway.
One motorist said: "I saw a police SUV with its flashing lights on, as well as a van.
"There is no hard shoulder on that stretch, so the left-hand lane had been coned off.
"This was in the Farnworth area, not too far after the roundabout."
Traffic data company Inrix says: "A666 St Peters Way Northbound partially blocked, slow traffic due to accident from M61 (Kearsley roundabout) to A575 Manchester Road (Moses Gate)."
