The team behind one of the borough’s most well-established hotels has rung in the festive season with some incredible gifts.
Staff at the Mercure Georgian House Hotel in Blackrod announced last month that they were collecting gifts for Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley.
Now with Christmas just around the corner, they have announced that they had collected more than 120 gifts to donate.
General Manager David Longcake said: “This year at the Mercure Georgian House we wanted to support a cause which is close to our hearts.
“We asked the local community and Christmas party goers to donate gifts that we could deliver to Derian House Children’s hospital to support the amazing work they do.
“We were so impressed by the local generosity.
“We collected over 120 gifts ranging from selection boxes, clothing, toiletries, books, and children’s toys and not forgetting those cute little teddies.”
Derian House, on Chancery Road, provides respite, palliative and end-of-life care to children and young people.
Organising the toy appeal comes after a busy year for the Blackrod hotel, which unveiled its new wedding packages in March this year.
As well as new wedding themes, the hotel has also launched a series of themed nights over the course of this year with the aim of reinvigorating its regular events programme.
They have included nights themed around 70s, 80s and 90s culture as well as special Northern Soul nights.

Many of the new innovations were driven by weddings and events manager Rochelle Jeffrey, who joined the hotel last year and who helped organise the recent toy appeal.
But the hotel team are hoping that special events and charity drives like these will lead on to even bigger and better things in the new year.
Mr Longcake said: “Supporting local charities is something we aim to do a lot more of in 2024.
“We would like to thank everyone who donated gifts for this amazing cause and invite anyone who would like to regift any unwanted items throughout December to drop them at our hotel reception and we will ensure they go to a good home at Derain House.”
