With all the Christmas celebrations, there’s usually a lot more rubbish to sort out and you might find it won’t fit it all in your usual bin.
A trip to the tip can be a big chore but in the period between Christmas and New Year, if you’re looking to ticks some jobs off the to do list, it could be the ideal time to do so.
Just like supermarkets, recycling centres alter their opening times over the festive break so you might be unsure when you can get rid of your extra rubbish.
To help you out, here’s the opening times for the recycling centres in Bolton.
Christmas opening times for tips in Bolton 2023
There are two Household Recycling Centres (HRCs) in Bolton and they will be both be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
They will however be open on other days during the festive period and they’re open for other bank holidays.
Here are the usual winter opening times at the recycling centres. You can find more information via the Bolton Council website.
Recycling centre at Hurtswood Court
From the last Sunday in October until British Summer Time, this recycling centre is open from 8am – 6pm Monday to Sunday.
Salford Road Recycling Centre
This recycling centre is open Monday to Saturday from 8am until 6pm.
On Sundays and bank holidays (except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) it’s open from 10am and closes at 4pm.
You can take your rubbish to any of Greater Manchester’s recycling centres if you live in Bolton free of charge.
If you have a car or a car with a single axle trailer, you can visit Greater Manchester Suez Recycling Centres up to 52 times a year.
However, this is different depending on which vehicle you take to the centres:
- Cars with a double axle trailer: 18 times a year
- Vehicles up to 3.5 tonne gross vehicle weight: 18 times a year
- Vans over 3.5 tonnes - 12 times a year
