Police have arrested two people as they carried out patrols in Horwich over the course of the weekend.
One woman was arrested and charged with multiple shoplifting offences which are said to have taken place in Westhoughton.
As well as this a man has been arrested accused of failing to attend at court.
Both will appear in court tomorrow.
Police also stepped up patrols at the Middlebrook Retail Park as part of Operation Bauble, which aims to keep people safe as more people visit the area over Christmas.
Police have also been on Vicarage Road in Blackrod responding to complaints of speeding.
A police spokesperson said: "We have had complaints that due to the closure of the Blackrod bypass, there has been an increase in traffic on this road and some drivers exceeding the speed limit on this road."
Elsewhere in Bolton police applied an dispersal order in the town centre twice giving them extra powers to ask people to leave the area.
There were also arrests in the town centre and Halliwell.
Another arrest was made following a suspected drug deal.
