Two shops in Bolton are at risk of losing their licence over allegations of the sale of illicit tobacco.
The council has ordered a review into a convenience store and an off-licence.
Separate hearings will be held for the two stores.
One is for the Fusion Mini Market on Derby Street.A notice has been placed outside the property about the licence hearing.
The grounds given for the notice are: “The prevention of crime and disorder in relation to the sale of illicit tobacco”
People with an interest in the review have until December 25 this year to make a representation.
A hearing will also take place regarding California Wines Express on Wigan Road with the same reasons given.
The deadline for making a representation in respect of this licencing review is January 5 next year.
The Bolton News approached the owners of both properties – however neither opted to comment on the reviews.
Both matters will be determined at a review hearing at a future date.
Last month another store, the Mini Market on Higher Market Street, Farnworth, was made the subject of a licence review on the ground of the prevention of crime and disorder.
Suspected illicit tobacco has previously been seized at other stores in Bolton.
In June this year the council and police seized £4 million of the product in one of the biggest discoveries of it anywhere in the country.
Six tonnes of raw tobacco destined for illegal manufacture was found in a lock up.
In August police found illegal cigarettes while looking for a wanted man.
They entered a property on Chorley Old Road and came across a large stash which was then seized.
