Firefighters from two separate stations were called out to rescue a dog from an embankment yesterday morning.
The dog appeared to have become stuck on the embankment at the Entwistle Reservoir off Batridge Road in Turton on the morning of Saturday December 9.
Crews from Darwen and Ramsbottom Fire Stations were called to the scene just before 10am.
A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 09.59 on December 9 2023, two fire engines from Darwen and Ramsbottom, from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, attended a dog rescue on Batridge Road, Turton.
“Firefighter used a rope rescue pack and two water swift technicians entered water to rescue the dog safely from an embankment.
“Crews were in attendance for one hour and ten minutes.”
The crews remained on the scene until around 11.10am that same Saturday morning before returning safely to their stations.
No further details as to how the dog ended up on the embankment have been released by Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
Members of the public have been advised to always report suspected fires and other emergencies to the Fire and Rescue Service as soon as it is safe to do so.
They can do so by calling 999.
