A man was stopped and caught with illegal drugs and a range of offensive weapons, police say.
The man was stopped while driving through the Abram area of Wigan on Friday night and arrested after police say they found he had been travelling with various weapons.
An image supplied by officers show an axe, a large knife and a club that he was allegedly caught with, while they also say the suspect he had been under the influence of drugs.
Speaking on Friday night, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Tonight the local officers from the Abram ward have searched a male and his vehicle and located a number of offensive weapons, controlled drugs, and suspect that the male was driving under the influence of an illicit substance.
“He has subsequently been arrested and his vehicle seized.”
This comes amid recurring concerns about violent crime and the use of weapons in various communities all across the Greater Manchester city region.
Police have appealed for anyone who has any information or concerns about violent crime or anti-social behaviour to call them on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
