Multiple roads will be closed from next week to allow water works to take place across the borough.

Walley Street in Astley Bridge will be closed from Friday, December 15 for approximately five days while works are ongoing.

The road closure will prohibit all traffic from proceeding on Walley Street from Crumpsall Street to Astley Street, to allow water works to take place.

Diversion routes will be in place.

Hampton Road in Great Lever will also be closed from December 11 for approximately one day while water works are ongoing.

The closure will prohibit all traffic from proceeding on Hampton Road from Bradford Road to Newport Street.

To ensure recycling bins are emptied during the works, council officials are asking residents to present them at the nearest accessible point to ensure that they can be emptied on the usual collection days.

Council officials say they want to apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause.
