Bolton has been transformed into a Winter Wonderland this morning as light snow fell overnight.
It’s a quiet Sunday for Bolton except the dusting of snow on the ground causing excitement.
While Manchester Airport has released a statement stating they are doing their very best to clear the runway, people in Bolton are waking up to beautiful snow on the ground.
The snow fell yesterday at 4pm and again at around 11pm and into the early hours of this morning.
While there is no more snow predicted for the weekend, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Bolton due to ice.
A spokesman for the Met Office states: “An icy start with snow on the ground in parts of the region.
“Early wintry showers easing through this morning, then mainly dry and cloudy.
"Turning somewhat brighter in places with sunny intervals but feeling cold despite the light winds. Maximum temperature 4C.”
Residents were urged to take extra care as they travelled around the borough as temperatures were forecast to reach a minimum of 1C.
A spokesman said: “Mainly dry at first overnight with clear spells developing more widely. A widespread sharp frost developing but turning less cold in the south with rain and hill snow arriving later. Minimum temperature -2 °C.."
