An abandoned motorbike was found by police over this weekend that officers believe was stolen.
Officers say they spotted the motorbike being ridden on Crompton Way on Sunday morning before the rider drove off.
They say they discovered the bike was stolen from somewhere in the Horwich area earlier in the same week and say they are working to find out who is responsible.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This morning, officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team spotted this motorcycle on Crompton Way.
“Enquiries established that the motorcycle was stolen earlier this week from Horwich.
“The motorcycle made off from Police however was later found abandoned nearby.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish those responsible for the offence.”
An image supplied by police shows the black motorbike with stainless steel trimmings abandoned on a dirt road.
This comes amid long running concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour on the roads around Bolton and Greater Manchester including vehicle theft, speeding and driving without licences or insurance.
Anyone with any information about the stolen motorbike or who has any other concerns can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
