Halliwell: Police seize 2 Vauxhalls in area as part of crackdown

The occupants of a Black Vauxhall Insignia had been seen driving on Halliwell Road but fled the area before officers could get to it, Greater Manchester Police said. 

It was found to be on false plates and has now been seized. 

A grey Vauxhall Corsa was then found on Prince Street being driven by someone who did not have insurance and was also seized, according to police.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team have been out in the Halliwell area this evening and have seized two vehicles.

"The first vehicle was seen driving on Halliwell Road. Before officers could get to the vehicle, the occupants fled the area. Enquiries established that the vehicle was on false plates, and it has now been seized.

"The second vehicle was seen driving on Prince Street, Halliwell. It is believed that the driver of the vehicle at the time did not have insurance to drive the vehicle and it has been seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act."

This comes amid long running concerns about crime on the roads in Bolton and further afield across Greater Manchester in recent months including cases of car theft, dangerous driving, driving without licences and driving without insurance. 

Police have also reported recent cases of drink driving and drug driving.
