FESTIVALS and carnivals have been part of our heritage creating lots of happy memories for local people.
Here is a great picture showing Horwich Carnival in full swing in 1980. As you can see, the whole community came out on carnival day to enjoy the town’s entertainment which included sideshows, carnival queens and floats - and lots more were added year on year.
Looking at some of the faces of the people in the photo you really can appreciate how important a day it was for the community.
