A shop assistant was threatened with a meat cleaver during an armed robbery at a store in Radcliffe.

Police say the terrifying raid took place on November 12 on Blackburn Street at 1.50pm and the armed raider escaped with the store till.

Officers say they are following up numerous lines of enquiries to establish a full timeline of events and are now in a position in their investigation to appeal to the public for assistance.

Detective Sergeant Culleton of GMP’s Bury CID, said: "Thankfully no one was harmed during this incident, but it was an incredibly traumatic experience for the shop staff and customers who were in the store at the time.

“We are following all available lines of enquiry to identify the man in the image as he may be able to assist enquiries, we are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anyone acting suspiciously either before or after the incident or have seen a discarded Casio store till or meat cleaver to get in touch with us.

Police have not named the store where the armed raid took place.
