A Bolton woman with a ‘great sense of humour’ is celebrating turning an amazing 104-years-old with her loved ones today (November 16).
Elsie Goodram, who is originally from Aspull but moved to Bolton with her family, is a resident at The Clough Residential Care Home on Chorley New Road, and enjoyed a happy birthday, complete with tea and biscuits.
Elsie is described by her son Eddie as a ‘brilliant mum’ who has always had a ‘caring nature’.
Elsie met her husband Gilbert, known as Gillie, before the war, he went off to Burma soon after, and they met up and married after the war ended.
Gillie was in his 90s when he died, amd son Eddie remembers his parents celebrating their golden wedding anniversary together.
Elsie is part of a big family - she has two children, Eddie her son, and she had a daughter who died a few years ago.
Elsie has two grandchildren, Jayne, and David and five great grandchildren Robin, Megan, Lucas, Joseph, and Hattie.
Eddie said: “Elsie has lived at The Clough for six years now and is well looked after.
“I am really happy with her care, and I always have peace of mind.

“Our Elsie still has such a zest for life and a resiliency to most things.
“She always takes things as they come along with a great big smile on her face.
