A Bolton woman’s dreams have come true as she is set to open Bolton’s first drive thru style dessert unit.
Mariyum Ali, 24, from Deane, will be officially launching DuJour on November 25.
Located on 1 Vicarage Street, BL3 5LE, the dessert shop offers people from across the borough the chance to order desserts over the phone or online.
They can then drive to the car park outside the unit and have dessert delivered to their cars.
Mariyum said this is something she has never seen in the borough and is a dream she has had since she was younger.
She said: “I have always loved baking and growing up I always loved baking a lot, I was obsessed with it.
“But as I got older, I loved law at the same time, so I studied it at university and I was really good at it as well, but I felt like my heart wasn’t with law.
“I didn’t like the idea of office time or having to work for someone else, and it didn’t appeal to me so I just kind of ended up leaning back on baking and enjoying it.
“When lockdown started I ended up loving it all again after my degree finished.
“I wanted to slowly build myself up and turn it into something I could do.
“This dessert unit has been a dream of mine; I’ve always had a passion for baking since I was younger.
“This is my passion, and I couldn’t be happier that I followed it.”
Mariyum said she is feeling a mix of nerves and excitement as the official opening day approaches, but the response has already been positive.
She said: “Honestly it feels quite nerve wracking at the same time as being really exciting.
“It is nerve wracking because after I finished my degree I started baking straight away and now it’s all eyes are on me and wondering if it will go well.
“But at the same time, it is exciting because I am doing this in Bolton, my hometown and because I have worked so hard its exciting to see what it will be.
“This is my first step to one day opening a shop.”

“This is a concept that no one has done in Bolton, and I am proud and excited to be the first.
