A former pub and nearby car park are set to be redeveloped into a small industrial estate.
Plans have been published to convert the former Anchor Inn pub on Eagle Street, Bolton, into a "co-working space".
An area close to the pub, currently being used as a car park, would be used to build four industrial units, each spanning around 1,000 – 1,500 sq/ft.
The proposed site, close to St Peter’s Way, is within the Mill Hill employment area.
The planned new industrial estate will also border Bury Old Road, Elton Street, and Thornton Street.
A design and access statement on behalf of applicant Mr K Mistry has been published by the council.
It said: “The current site primarily serves as a car park, with a portion of it housing a café attached to the now-defunct Anchor pub.
“The proposed small-scale units are designed to foster the growth of small starter businesses or established businesses looking to expand.
“By offering flexible options that can easily adapt to growing needs, these units will help ensure that business investment is retained within the area.”
The Anchor Inn, which dates back to 1848, at one time had its own fish and chip shop built into it.
It has been closed since around 2007. The statement said the conversion would "preserve its external appearance to honour its historical significance within the area".
The application noted that the proposed redevelopment is within Bolton’s protected employment land, as indicated by the authority’s local plan allocation map.
The application will decided on by planners in Bolton over the coming weeks.
