Filming continues today for the new series of Alma's Not Normal, starring BAFTA winning Bolton actress Sophie Willan.
Crews have been filming across the borough and are back in Bolton town centre, this time in Mawdsley Street - and are set to be in town all week.
The colourful set was packed with production crews as they filmed for the show’s new season on BBC Two.
Sophie has recently been filming in Bolton in October outside the Home Bargains in the town centre, and again in Horwich, where she filmed at the Green Machine bike shop.
Created, written by, starring and Executive Produced by Sophie, Alma’s Not Normal centres on a Boltonian wild-child, Alma Nuthall and her family of eccentric, unruly women and was the creation of Sophie in 2018 when she was an inaugural winner of the BBC’s Caroline Aherne Bursary Award.
Sophie seems to love filming in her hometown.
She previously told The Bolton News: “It’s always a treat to come home, and it’s lovely to be working here, and employing lots of Boltonians as well.
“It’s fabulous.”
The series, produced by Expectation, offers a bitingly funny and unflinching take on class, sexuality, mental health, and substance abuse.
It celebrates women dealing with the hands they’ve been dealt while doggedly pursing their dreams.
Filming is taking place today over a week.
